about

Released by Ascetic House May 2016
Recorded 2011-2014 by Ryan Woodhall.
Dedicated to Luc Ferrari & The Hemlock Society

"Exit International is a simulation of drifting between life and death… The inspiration came from books published by the Hemlock Society about the right-to-death movement as well as Luc Ferrari’s Les Arythmiques.

I would frequently arrange and process the sounds, then review my work lying in bed on sedatives, barely able to stay awake. The cold sterility of the hospital is a stark and unsettling contrast to the other-worldly act of dying; The atmospheres on the album teeter between clinical life support and surreal ambience. The sound of hospital equipment interacts with empty field recordings through the audio process of convolution. A mantra was developed to synchronize with the stream of consciousness flow of the sounds."
